ty so much for sharing
This bridge really, really needs to go. Two three-lane underwater tunnels going in opposite directions with rest stops and so on should replace this dreaded and nightmarish structure for good.
I was excited to watch this video about the causeway but I didn’t expect all the little fun facts and anecdotes and that made it a lot more interesting and engaging
It is pronouncer "Yoou-PER!
I went to Louisiana once coming from Florida. Did I actually drive through cause it was night time . I don’t really remember…
Y no tiene luz no quisiera pasar por ahí de noche 😢😮
Interstate Highway runs North Beckley to Shady Spring.
I lived in Avondale in the early 80s. No one mentions how raggedy the overpass at Westbank Expressway is. It seems to have a very noticeable sag.
Its an even better view at night
FORGET EVERY SINGLE THING IN THIS WORLD!!! :( Maaaaan, are you serious? I was fussing out loud yelling at the video about any and everything during the bridge ride and my daughter was like, "momma, why are you yelling?" Lol, I said "CAUSE GIRL!!!! I'm mad about that bridge, it's crazy." What in the world tho!!! Like, I'm speechless but can somebody please explain cause my heart is RUMBLING!!! I can't see how ya'll do it. I couldn't WAIT for you to be on land lol, I'm like thank you Jesus!!! How long is the ride though? The actual slow speed was bananas but what about if someone is in an emergency especially running out of gas? Everybody can HAVE Louisiana lol forget that.
Negative.
Why not make the side railing higher to make it a more comfortable drive???
Since you just passed Jens, the Garnet Range is off camera to the north (right side), the mountain range the camera is pointed at are called The John Long Mountains with a chunk of the Sapphire Range behind them.
Used to live in Thibodaux but traveled to the north shore a ton! Always loved leaving Mandeville and driving the bridge back to New Orleans…watching the sunset.. Watching the pelicans flying by the bridge. Sweet times.
Awsome too bad you couldn't take a good picture of the transmission towers that curve below the horizon to show earther's curvature
Earth is not a ball
Not my first across but my 4th time on a fishing trip to Canada I drove a 28 foot class a Holiday Rambler motorhome pulling a 18 foot Glastron bass boat with a 14 foot aluminum boat cradled over the bass boat. I drove it over the bridge while the other 4 guys were playing cards in the back. I was only 20 years old and I drove from Indiana nonstop to the bridge. Changed drivers shortly after the bridge. That was 44 years ago. What a trip. Our trip was a feature artical in Trailer Life Magazine a year later. Since the editor was the motor home owner. You never forget things like this.
28 years as an over the road driver and I've been to every state in the union and 33 foreign countries. This song, long version , will be played at my funeral. Oh the memories 🎉❤
I had a panic attack.going over this bridge
I was five when it opened in 1956, we all piled into the car for the ride to Mandeville. The two lanes with no shoulders was pretty scary. I think we got hamburgers and then drove back to New Orleans.
Who else came here from Instagram after this Lake’s part has became a meme material?
The ONLY reason why this bridge is terrifying is the fact it has no guard rails. Side lips is like 1 foot smh
I’ve actually been on it before. The middle gets so scary lol
Nice 🎵
Very cool
Would’ve been funny if you were riding in a Caravan
Can someone explain to me. The bridge is 40 km long, I rode it with a friend. He looked through the binoculars and saw the other end. How could he see the trees on the other side. According to the earth curvature calculator, the other side of the bridge was 104.157 meters below the horizon???
Its nice to travel without burning gas , paying a toll , and getting behind ones own steering wheel , a person can just sit back and watch these videos and enjoy the trip seeing the scenery . Thanks 👍 for posting !
What if you had to drive this bridge every day twice for work 😅
Thank you. Remember if what you see is an 8 inch a mile drop for the curvature - or level 😊
The meme
Nice
I drove over this in December. It was snowing and I was terrified. Definitely the scariest bridge I ever crossed.
I live near lake Pontchartrain
So you're telling me a bridge proves the curvature of the earth yet there's still flat earthers out there?
It's funny this bridge does exactly the opposite it completely disproves globe earth
I have driven over this span many times. The water is very choppy. Sailboats seem like miniatures from the span.
it's insane that they've actually built this 😭😭😭
And I thought driving to key West was nerve racking on a long bridge over water.
I’ve been through this bridge many times :D the water does get scary at times since it’s quite high but other then that,I mostly get on this bridge to go to Slidell(One of my fav city’s beside Chalmente(I can’t spell :( )But recently,I did notice how the water was when I crossed it,I’m nervous this is about climate change but hopefully the people find a solution
I drive this bridge twice a day for work every day. Just an FYI, the mountains and snow area at the beginning of this video is not where this bridge is located. Lake Pontchartrain Causeway is in New Orleans, Louisiana just about as south as you can go. We never see snow, snow, or mountains unfortunately.
No.
Can you imagine crossing it by train???
Great video! Great music! Thanks!
Love your music
Does anybody know the name of the song at the end of this video is
Nice tour but guy went to fast
@ :35 I have a bottle of redass rhubarb wine in my fridge, chillin... 😂😂😂😂😂
It feels alot longer than 23 miles. After Katrina the water was so rough and brown and almost looked like it was sick and had been shaken and stirred. It was pretty eerie. I'll never forget it.
It's like driving to another continent.
It's the Mississippi river
